Nike Kit Builder

Since launching NIKEiD in 1999, Nike has been at the forefront of customized sports gear. In 2008, Nike turned to R/GA London to take customization to the retail setting and create an in-store experience for football teams.

R/GA London created Kit Builder, an exclusive by-appointment-only experience, located in the heart of Niketown London’s new Bootroom. In July 2009, the newly enhanced version of the Kit Builder in-store experience was rolled out across European retailers in Germany, France, Spain and Italy.

Working with a Nike consultant, customers use a simple digital interface to design personalized match day and training kits—complete with their own style, color, name, number and logos. To complete customization, teams even have options to upload their own club and sponsor logos, or use the team logo builder and create a unique crest of their own.

Following the in-store success, the platform was launched on Nikefootball.com in October 2009, enabling users around the world to create customized kits for companies, semi-pro and amateur leagues—now everyone can create their team identity.
